Si no conoces a Ricardo Gallén, te estás perdiendo una de las experiencias más sorprendentes y fascinantes que podemos tener actualmente los guitarristas.
Como dice mi alumna Eva, una técnica de mano izquierda de «Dibujos animados», dedos increiblemente articulados y veloces, que se mueven por el mástil sin esfuerzo, movidos por impulsos de energía que él sabe controlar muy bien, resultado de un enorme trabajo de investigación y de práctica, siempre con un objetivo musical muy claro y meditado.
Una cultura musical enorme, poco común en los guitarristas, con continuas referencias a música orquestal y a tratados sobre la interpretación de la música antigua, y ejemplos de todo tipo de obras que muchas veces él mismo reduce a la guitarra o interpreta al piano.
Ejemplos gráficos divertidos, para controlar la energía en la interpretación: como mover una silla, como coger un vaso…etc, todos aplicados a la técnica de la guitarra.
Si a todo esto unimos una personalidad sencilla, cercana y divertida el resultado es Ricardo Gallén.
Eran las 12 de la noche, el local lleno de humo, habíamos cenado, reído, cantado… el había trabajado más de ocho horas en clases individuales y, también, dado una clase genial de una obra mía con nuestro Ensemble, Iván, nuestro violinista, le preguntó: ¿podrías tocar algo de Bach? … y el milagro ocurrió de nuevo, de su guitarra empezaron a brotar notas claras y transparentes, llenas de emoción como las lágrimas que ví brillar en los ojos de María Eugenia, nuestra soprano.

As my student Eva says to my, he has a «Cartoons» left hand technique, fingers incredibly articulated and quick, that they move by the guitar without effort, moved by energy impulses that he knows to control very good, result of an enormous work of investigation and practice, always with a very clear and meditated musical objective.

Amused graphical examples, to control the energy in the interpretation: like moving a chair, taking a glass… etc, all applied to the technique of the guitar. If to all this we united a simple personality, near and amused the result it is Ricardo Gallén.
It was 12 at night, the local plenty of smoke, we had supper, laughed, sung… he had worked more than eight hours in individual classes and, also, given to a brilliant class of a work mine with our Ensemble, Iván, our violinist, it asked to him: you could play something of Bach? … and the miracle happened again, of its guitar it began to bring forth clear and transparent notes, floods of emotion like the tears that I saw to shine in the eyes of Maria Eugenia, our soprano.

Xavier Díaz-Latorre, uno de los mejores especialistas europeos en instrumentos antiguos de cuerda pulsada, profesor de la Escuela Superior de Cataluña, estuvo trabajando con nuestra orquesta Ensemble XXI, diversas obras para voz de nuestro repertorio.
Es un viejo amigo, con él compartí sueños y ilusiones de nuestra época de estudiantes en la Konzertclass de Oscar Ghiglia en Basilea (Suiza). También compartimos una visión muy particular de la música y en especial de la interpretación de la música para guitarra.
Nuestros caminos se separaron cuando el finalizó sus estudios de Guitarra Clásica y empezo los de instrumentos antiguos con Hopkinson Smith. La fortuna quiso que en un concierto de alumnos le escuchara Jordi Savall, director de las mejores orquestas del mundo de esta materia, y le llamó para trabajar en sus proyectos. Desde entonces, Xavier viaja regularmente por todo el mundo, dando conciertos y cursos muy importantes.
Con él me ocurre una cosa curiosa, aunque estemos mucho tiempo sin hablarnos, cuando nos encontramos parece que el tiempo no ha pasado y volvemos a ser, por un momento, otra vez aquellos jóvenes repletos de ilusiones y proyectos que se ayudaban el uno al otro en momentos de duda e inseguridad.
Viéndole dirigir mi orquesta pensaba que, afortunadamente, muchos de aquellos sueños e ilusiones se han cumplido, mientras la dulce voz de María Eugenia Boix cantaba una de las más bellas y melancólicas melodías irlandesas : Trop loin d’Irlande. (Grupo 6 de nuestro catálogo)

Xavier Diaz-Latorre, one of the best European specialists in ancien plucked string instruments, professor of the High School of Catalonia, was working with our orchestra Ensemble XXI, diverse works for voice of our repertoire.
He is an old friend, with him I shared dreams and illusions of our time of students in the Konzertclass with Oscar Ghiglia in Basel (Swiss).
Also we shared a very particular vision of the music and in special of the interpretation of music for guitar. Our ways separated when it finalized his studies of Classic Guitar and he began those of ancien instruments with Hopkinson Smith. The fortune wanted that in a concert of students Jordi Savall listened to him, director of the best orchestras of the world of this matter, and it called to him to work in his projects. Since then, Xavier travels everywhere regularly, giving to concerts and very important courses.
With him it happens a peculiar thing to me, although we are long time without speaking to us, when we were seems that the time has not happened and we return to be, for a moment, again those young people filled with illusions and projects that helped one to another one at moments of doubt and insecurity.
Seeing direct my orchestra him it thought that, luckyly, many of those dreams and illusions have been fulfilled, while the sweet voice of Maria Eugenia Boix sang a most beautiful and melancholic Irish melodies:

El griego Dimitri Psonis, uno de los mejores percusionistas europeos, especializado en instrumentos antiguos y orientales, estuvo trabajando con nuestra orquesta Ensemble XXI, diferentes obras de nuestro repertorio.
Toca de una manera increible todo tipo de instrumentos de gran belleza de procendencia iraní, pakistaní, turca…etc
Una de las afirmaciones más sorprendentes que nos dijo fué:
«La música ya tiene su propio ritmo, la función de la percusión no es dar ritmo, es dar color y hacerla más atractiva, más expresiva»
Me gustó la profunda concentración con que escuchaba nuestra música, con sus profundos ojos oscuros perdidos en el horizonte, como empapándose del caracter de la obra, para empezar, después, a construir con sus dedos rítmos imposibles de una gran riqueza.
Nos dió ideas muy originales, él es capaz de construir un instrumento con cualquier cosa: una cortina con llaves atadas, y nos sorprendió creando un efecto precioso con una hoja de papel deslizándola por sus rodillas.
A Dimitri le gustó, especialmente, la obra El oasis perdido ( grupo 5 del catálogo).

One of the affirmations more surprising than said was: «music already have its own rhythm, the function of the percussion is not to give rhythm, is to give color and to make it more attractive, more expressive»
I liked the deep concentration whereupon he listened to our music, with his deep lost dark eyes in the horizon, as being soaked of the character of the work, to begin, later, to construct with his finges impossible rhythm of a great wealth.
It gave very original ideas us, is able to construct an instrument with any thing: a curtain with tied keys, and surprised to us creating a precious effect with a sheet of paper sliding it by its knees.
